Tourist Places To Visit In Itanagar
Itanagar is the capital city of Arunachal Pradesh which is at the foothills of Himalayas. Situated between two hills with, the Governor's residence on one hill and a Buddhist temple on the other, this stunning place will inspire you to travel more. You can see the influence of Tibetian architecture here. The beautiful town will totally mesmerize you with tropical green forests meeting the temperate Himalayan jungles when you approach the town. Located on a small hillock, it is one of the major tourist attractions with its beautiful yellow roof. It is constructed by Dalia Lama and you can see the influence of Tibetian architecture here. It has a well-maintained garden and you can soak in a soothing aerial view of Itanagar and its beautiful countryside from here.
Itanager is named after Ita fort. Ita fort literary means fort of bricks in Ahom language. It is an old fort built in the 14th century and is said to belong to ancient religion. It is also believed that the fort guarded the people who lived here years and years ago. It is unique because you cannot find many forts in the northeast region.
It is also called the Gyaka Sinyi Lake. This is again one more destination you should not miss if you like to experience nature at its best. The beautiful lake is surrounded by lush green mountains all around you get to see the wonderful Himalaya Mountains in the distance. It has camping, boating facilities, and many restaurants.
An alluring hill station at 20 km from Itanagar and will surely make you crave for more. Rupa is totally untouched by mankind. It is on the banks of river Tenga. Take an early morning or late evening drive along the Rupa border to experience the stunning beauty of the place. You can also visit the tribal village of Shertukpen to experience the local life.
Itanagar Wildlife Sanctuary
It is at a distance of 10 km from the city of Itanager. Public transport is easily available to reach the place. Itanagar Wildlife Sanctuary is known for its flora and fauna. The most common animals found here are the musk deer, Himalayan black deer, red panda and porcupine. A rare variety of monkeys is also found here. This sanctuary houses a number of hornbills too.
Jawaharlal Nehru State Museum

It showcases the various aspects of tribal life in Arunachal Pradesh where you get to see a range of things used by tribes around that are unique to the culture of the people.
