Itanagar is a beautiful city in Arunachal Pradesh, named after the Fort that crowns it glory. It has lush mountainsides, forts and temples, coupled with museums and wildlife sanctuaries. The weather in Itanagar is mostly very pleasant, except it rains like the dog during monsoons. The best time to visit Itanagar is from October to April. Summers are a bit too hot and humid, but still manageable. Try to visit the place during the festivals; many festivals are celebrated by the local tribes which are quite fascinating.
Summer (April to June)
It is quite hot during this season, but if you take some precaution, it is manageable. Summers are also non-tourist time so you have open spaces and cheaper rates, all to yourself. The temperature ranges from 20°C -35°C. It is an ideal time to visit many places like the Buddha temple, The Ganga Lake, Ita Fort, Itanagar Wildlife Sanctuary, Namdapha National Park, Polo Park and more.
Monsoon (July to September)
Monsoon is very pleasant in Itanagar but the roads leading up to the city might be jeopardised if it pours. Temperature varies between 18°C - 29°C. It a good time to visit the indoor places like the Gompa Buddha temple, Jawaharlal Nehru State Museum, Craft Centre and Emporium.
Winter (October to March)
Winters are the best season to visit the place. The place turns lively because of the beautiful climate. Although the temperature drops very low during December, it is still manageable and beautiful. Many festivals are celebrated during this time. The temperature during this time is around 6°C-26°C.
