Rice is the staple food of Arunachal Pradesh, but the way they cook rice is quite different. They cook the rice in hollow Bamboo over hot coal to get a different flavor. All other dishes made of Bamboo shoots, Pika Pila (a type of pickle mostly made by the Apatani tribe), Pehak (made from fermented soya bean and chilli) etc. are the side dishes you can enjoy with rice. They also serve a wide range of Momos. Don’t forget to enjoy the local rice Beer (Apong) and Millet Beer (Marua) when you visit Ziro.
