Ziro is a small town in Lower Subansiri district situated in the beautiful state of Arunachal Pradesh. Ziro is named as the World Heritage site for its natural beauty. It is surrounded by lush green rice fields, thick bamboo forest, and rolling mountains. You cannot find a more picturesque town than Ziro. The landscape is so beautiful; you will feel that you are seeing a painting. The delight of fresh air and the unspoiled view is breath-taking. It is also called the peace seeker's paradise. It is home to Apa Tani tribe. The climate here is mild throughout the year hence it is comfortable to travel throughout the year. Talley Valley Wildlife Sanctuary
It is one of the most favourite places for visitors. It covers an area 337 km. It is at an altitude of 2400 m and many rivers like the Pange, Sipu, Karing, Subansiri flow through the sanctuary. It is rich in flora and fauna. Pleioblastus is a bamboo variety found only in this region. It houses many endangered animals like leopards, clouded leopards etc. It is also home to many varieties of flora like ferns, orchids, silver fir trees, bamboo and rhododendron. Arunachal Pradesh as a whole is home to 40% of total flora and fauna found in India.
Meghna Cave Temple
It is a 5000-year-old temple dedicated to Shiva who is worshipped as Lord Lakulisha. It was rediscovered in 1962. It is a must visit for any visitor, the architecture of the temple is quite unique. It is built in a cave. The cave has Kali Purana carved in Sanskrit. The temple is located at a height of 300 feet on a mountain; you can reach the temple by steps. Once you reach the top the view is breath-taking with the scenic beauty of mountains and forest around the temple. People in and around Ziro come here in large numbers during Mahashivaratri.
It is around 7 km from Ziro. It is a high hill point which is also used as a viewpoint. You can stand on the top and you will experience the most amazing wonders of the world, with dense forests and paddy field of the Ziro plateau. There is the mesmerising snow-clad Himalaya Mountain on the other side. You will be totally bowled by the scenic beauty of Kilo Pakho.
Tarin Fish farm
It is located at a very high altitude surrounded by bamboos and pine trees. High altitude fishes are bred here by the traditional Paddy fish cultivation method; where two crops of rice to one crop of Fish (Ngihi) are cultivated together. It is a rare practice of growing rice and fish together and it is one of the major attractions in Ziro.
Dolo Mando - Trekking
It is a pine tree covered hill near the Hapoli town. It is situated on the western side of Ziro. It is one of the major tourist attractions. Travellers trek to the hilltop to get the view of Hapoli town and Ziro. The view is worth every step you take towards the hill. No camera has done justice to the Wonderful view.
Ziro to Hapoli is 15-20 min drive; there is a side road which takes you to the largest monolithic Shivling in the world. The Shivling is 25 feet in height and 22 feet in diameter. It was discovered not too long ago by the local people when they were clearing the forest. The atmosphere is clean and serene and ideal for meditation.
