A small town in the district Lohit of Arunachal Pradesh, Tezu is known for its weather, scenic beauty, valleys and rivers. The Mishmi Tribe is its ancient inhabitant and has been around since the time of the Mahabharata. The most ideal time to visit Tezu is during winters, thanks to its pleasant weather and a culturally vibrant time when there’s festivity in the air. The Makar Sankranti Fair and Mishmi Festival are two significant events that are organized between December and February in the village and scores of visitors flock the town then.

During summers Tezu’s climate is warm with an average temperature range of 10°C -33°C. The months of April through June is a lovely time to explore the town and indulge in a variety of outdoor activities. March experiences over 15 days of rainfall amounting to 54mm and over 16 days of dry days. One can explore a road trip or walking and cycling activities during this period. May and June see nearly 33 days of rainfall on an average.

Tezu experience the monsoon season from July through November, is relatively pleasant and witnesses an average temperature range of 7°C-17°C. However, reaching Tezu from Assam can be challenging as Assam faces torrential rains during this period, thereby affecting its road conditions and weather as well. September and October are also good for visiting the town, with a moderate temperature and clear skies that make for an ideal photo opp and captivating sights.

December through February is the perfect time to visit Tezu, with temperatures dipping as low as -6°C, while days can experience a warm temperature of 32°C even. February is an exceptionally busy time of the year in Tezu because that’s when the village is fervently alive with the Tamladu Puja, a significant festival for the Mishmi Tribe that’s observed on 15 February and has people from other communities joining in as well.
