The largest city in the Basque Country of Spain, Bilbao is a spectacular destination that experiences a slightly unique Temperate Oceanic climate as compared to the rest of Spain, owing to its hilly location. This means that weather in Bilbao tends to be on the cooler side, even during the summer. Additional characteristics include overcast skies and light rainfall. The summer season period from June to mid-September is the best time to visit the city. This the warmest part of the year and the weather remains well-balanced throughout this period. Fogs do tend to occur during the autumn season as the weather transitions from the warmth of the summer. This is ideal for enjoying the city and outdoor exploration.

This season is overall rather stable, characterized by periodic light showers. The temperature averages around 9° C as Bilbao is a hilly destination. Snowfall in the city is very rare, making it alright for visitors to venture outside to explore the city. However, they must remain well-clad at all times as weather can get quite windy post sunset.

This weather during this part of the year is relatively cooler, a little overcast and can get a bit damp at times. The periodic showers and increase in wind speed and humidity can make the weather appear much colder than it actually is. Outdoor exploration can become quite a hassle due to this muggy climate. This is not the best time for visitors to explore the city.   

This period is one the best times to visit Bilbao. The temperature tends to be pleasantly warm, with the weather cooling down significantly in the evenings. Extremely warm days are a rarity, with temperatures averaging between 20 to 30° C for most of the year. However, on occasion there may be a hot spell for a few days. Visitors are advised to dress appropriately and keep themselves hydrated at all times. The high visibility and overall pleasant climate makes this a popular period for tourism.

Up until the end of September, the favourable summer weather conditions tend to continue. However from October to November the weather tends to start shifting, with a rainier and cooler climate dominating this season. Overcast skies and a slight fog do tend to occur as we get towards the end of this season. Temperatures tend to hover around 21° C during this season.
