Pamplona Weather And Best Time To Visit Pamplona
The tiny but charming city of Pamplona continues to draw visitors from all over Spain, Europe and now even the rest of the world. A combination of the Mediterranean and Oceanic Climate pattern, Pamplona enjoys a relatively well-balanced weather throughout majority of the year. The best and most popular times to visit are unsurprisingly the spring and autumn seasons, where the temperature is just ideal for outdoor activities and exploring the ins and outs of the city. The summer is also popular for tourists, peaking during the San Fermin Festival in July. Winters are not favorable owing to the reduced temperature and high speed winds.
Spring Season (March – May)
This is a fantastic period for travel to Pamplona as it is just before the onset of the popular Fermin Festival, meaning that the crowds and tourists can enjoy the city in peace for a change. The skies are relatively clear, temperatures average around 30° C and the days are quite long. The evening is complemented by a cool breeze that makes it just right to enjoy a fun night out as well. For first time visitors, this season is a definite good choice to explore the city.
Summer Season (June - September)
July is the biggest month of the year as it observes the annual San Fermin Festival taking place in the first week of the month. This draws thousands of visitors from all over to take in the sights and sounds of the city. Temperatures skyrocket to almost 40° C and visitors are strongly advised to come prepared with sunscreen and to dress appropriately. Bright skies and strong sunshine characterize most days and there is a definite cooling down that takes place post sunset. If visitors can stand the heat, it is a fun season to visit and the rest of this period is infact considered to be the tourist off-season.
Autumn Season (October – November)
Another one of the best seasons to visit Pamplona owing to the well-balanced temperatures, averaging at around 27° C, which makes it near perfect weather to explore and fully enjoy the city. It is a brief period but still sees a large inflow of people into the city. Reduced humidity levels, light showers and a cool evening breeze are other features that complement this season. It is definitely a peak tourist season for travel.
Winter Season (December – February)
This season is not recommended for travel as the weather dips down to freezing levels and can often make Pamplona unbearable owing to the strong winds, low temperatures and cloudy skies that are also a feature of this season. The season also observes periodic rainfall which only adds to the wind chill and dampness giving the city quite a gloomy atmosphere.
