Mawlynnong Weather And Best Time To Visit Mawlynnong
Mawlynnong has often been referred to as ‘God’s own Garden’; a moniker well-suited to a quaint village that is situated right at the Indian-Bangladesh border in the East Khasi Hills of Meghalaya, and has been voted as the cleanest village in Asia. Mawlynnong is maintained entirely through self-sustained methods and each member of the village works hard at keeping Mawlynnong at its pristine best. The changes in weather do not interfere much with the village’s evergreen ambience, but the monsoons, in particular, bring incomparable beauty to Mawlynnong in the form of greenery and vibrant blooms. While this impeccable village is worthy of a visit almost all year long, here are our recommendations on the best time to visit Mawlynnong.
Summer (May – August)

The monsoon season also arrives sometime in June or July, so be prepared for frequent showers and even occasional thunderstorms at any time of the day. The temperature ranges between 24-32⁰C during the afternoons; days that do get a little warm are often made cooler by intermittent rainfall. The rain also brings blooming flowers to the village that adds immense vibrancy to the surroundings.

Some of the best months to visit Mawlynnong are during the transition months of spring and autumn. The weather is perfect for outdoor activities and humidity goes down considerably as well during this time. The average temperature is around 25⁰C during springtime and around 15⁰C during the autumn season. Rainfall is at its minimum during the autumn months but can be expected more often during springtime.
Winter (November – February)
Winters in Mawlynnong are cold, but still, a great time to visit the village. The days are usually sunny and pleasant, and the temperature begins to dip as night time arrives. Average temperature ranges around 5⁰C in the night to around 14⁰C during the day. It is advised to carry enough winter wear with you on the trip.
