The best way to reach Maheshwar is to reach Indore either by rail or by air since Maheshwar has neither a railhead nor an airport. Indore, on the other hand is not too far away from Maheshwar and one can travel by a taxi from the airport or railway station at Indore to Maheshwar.

Maheshwar is a very small place and one can walk around the town. Auto rickshaws are available and so are contract buses such as Saraf. But, travellers say that it is “fun to walk around” and check out the local stuff, eat at food joints and generally feel the pulse of the local environment.
