Kakinada, one of the largest cities in Andhra, is the district headquarters of East Godavari district in the state. It is also one of the most visited cities in India for its natural beauty and history. Talking about the climate of the city is tropical savanna type with hot and humid weather for the most part of the year. Like any other city in India, Kakinada has three distinct seasons: summer, monsoon, and winter. Because of warm and humid weather conditions during the summer, it is not a recommended time to visit the city whereas the winter is the most favored time to visit Kakinada. Summer (March - June)
The summer season in Kakinada starts from the month of March and extends till June. At the start of the season in March, the weather is still favorable but as time progresses and we enter April, the temperature gradually starts increasing and reaches its peak by the end of the month with May and June being the hottest months of the season 38–42 °C. Therefore, people generally avoid traveling in these months. But being a holiday season and offers run by the hotels and travel agencies, people still visit Kakinada. But ensure that you are carrying light cotton clothes to avoid discomfort.

Monsoon (July - November)
The end of summer marks the beginning of the monsoon season. And when it comes to rainfall in Kakinada, it receives substantial rainfall during this season. The region in and around Kakinada receives rainfall from both the southwest monsoon and the northeast monsoon. Although the southwest monsoon offers a good amount of rainfall, the place receives the major part of its rainfall through the northeast monsoon between mid-October and December. October and November receive the highest rainfall of the season and it's not uncommon to experience cyclones that originate in the Bay of Bengal frequently hitting the city.

Winter (December - February)
As the northeast monsoon moves out of the region, the weather slowly begins to get pleasant and the city gears up to welcome the best time of the year. The winter season in Kakinada starts from the end of November and extends till February and early March. This is the most favorable time to visit Kakinada as the weather is moderately cool with temperatures ranging between 20 and 30° C. The month of January is considered the coldest month of the season where the temperature falls well below 20° C. Therefore, you'll see a lot of travelers visiting Kakinada and its neighboring regions during this time.
