Bankura does not have an aerodrome and the airport closest to it is Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport in Dum Dum, Kolkata. It is located about 170 km from Bankura. There is another airport, fairly new one that is now operational in Durgapur which is just 45 km away. Dum Dum Airport is very well connected with the rest of the country by private and public carriers. From the airports in Kolkata and Durgapur, cabs and taxis are available to transport tourists to their destination.

Bankura Junction Railway Station is part of the South Eastern Railways. For those traveling by train can directly reach Bankura. However, Bankura is connected by rails only with Kolkata and Bhubaneshwar. The major railhead is Kolkata and Midnapore Railway Station. Bhubaneshwar Rajdhani Express, Aranyak Express, Ernakulam-Patna Express, Rupashi Bangla Express, Puri-New Delhi (Nandan Kanan) Superfast Express and Purulia-Howrah Express are some of the trains that pass through Bankura.

Bankura is well connected by roads from most major places of the state. National Highway 14 that runs connects Morgam and Kharagpur, State Highway 5 connecting Rupnarayanpur and Junput, State Highway 9 connecting Durgapur and Nayagram; they all pass through Bankura. South Bengal State Transport Corporation (SBSTC) operates regular buses between Kolkata and Bankura, along with private buses by different operators that are AC, Deluxe and Sleeper coaches. It takes about 5-6 hours to reach Bankura.

For moving around in Bankura, rickshaws and auto-rickshaws are available. They are found everywhere and you need to take one to move around the place. Rental cars are also available for hire which enables tourists to visit the neighboring tourist destinations. Other than these, the town is too cozy for a public transport system like trains or buses. But you will easily be able to see everything by a hired car.
