How To Reach Cuttack
Cuttack is a bustling city situated on a delta that is formed between the rivers Mahanadi and Kathjuri, in the eastern coastal state of Orissa. While it is well known as the former capital of Orissa, the large numbers of trading houses in the city also make it the commercial capital of the state.
The ancient historical city Cuttack and the capital city Bhubaneswar are often referred to as the Twin Cities of Orissa, with the former being situated only 24 km away from the capital. Cuttack is a well linked city and easily accessible from a number of routes. Here are some of the most convenient ways to reach Cuttack.
The most convenient way to reach Cuttack is to catch a flight to Biju Patnaik International Airport, located in the capital city of Bhubaneswar. The only international airport in the state, it is well connected to a number of destinations worldwide, including major metro cities in the country like Delhi, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Chennai, Mumbai etc. The airport is 24 km away from Cuttack, and can be reached via buses and taxis that are available outside the airport.
The Cuttack Railway Station is a busy junction with a number of trains operating to and from this station, which is located on the main line that runs between Kolkata and Chennai. Travelers can choose from a range of Superfast, Express or local trains that pass through this region and connect to other cities within Orissa and outside.
Cuttack is connected to major cities nearby through National Highways and good road networks. Public and private buses and taxi services operate on a regular basis to and from Cuttack as well, making road accessibility to this city a convenient affair. You can even drive down to Cuttack on your own if you are so inclined.
There are regular town buses that ply through Cuttack, which are a cheap way to travel within the city. Apart from that, there are also cycle rickshaws and auto rickshaws available to move through short distances; and private taxis for hire for a more convenient, albeit expensive, journey.
