By Air:

The closest airport to Meerut is the Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi. The city of Meerut is very close to Delhi and hence this airport serves the people travelling to and fro from Meerut. The airport is 88km from the center of Meerut city and takes about 2.5 hours to travel.

 

By Road:

Since Meerut is an urbanized city, the roadways leading to the place are well maintained and many in number. You can easily drive up there using some of the best highways in the country. If you don’t want to drive, you can always take a bus run by UPSRTC if you are travelling from within Meerut or a luxury overnight bus if you are coming from adjacent states.

 

By Rail:

The train lines running from Meerut are some of the most important ones in the country. The closest rail head is the Meerut City Junction and is located at a distance of 3.6 km from the city center. Various trains like the Shalimar Express, Haridwar Mail and more pass through the city, making it easy and affordable for people to travel.

Summer (April-June):

Summers in Meerut are brutal with temperatures ranging from a soaring 44°C in the daytime to 30°C in the night. These temperatures cause the climatic conditions to be gruesome and extremely unbearable, especially if you are not from the city. This is not a recommended tie to visit.

 

Monsoon (July-October):

The cold showers of the monsoon give some respite to the locals and the land itself from the scalding heat. Temperatures during this time range from 28°C in the daytime to 20°C in the night. The rains are accompanied by cold winds along with slight thunderstorms. This is a good time to visit Meerut.

 

Winter (November-March):

This is the best time to visit Meerut due to the weather being very pleasant and inviting. Temperatures during this season can range from 15°C in the day to 8°C-10°C in the night. Some winters are extreme and the temperatures may come down even lower, making it an ideal time to go sightseeing. This is a great time to visit the city.

Pray at St John’s Church:

One of the oldest churches in Meerut, the St. John’s Church was built in the 18th century and is beautifully structured. The church fits almost 3000 people inside and is surrounded by lush green meadows. Visiting this church is one of the top things to do in Meerut.

 

Visit Ancient Temples:

Meerut is known to have some of the most ancient temples from the time of the Mahabharata. People from all over the country visit Meerut to take blessings from the almighty at these temples. Visit the Augharnath Mandir to get a feel of the oldest temple in the city where a lingam magically self-appeared at that very spot.

While you are shopping at Abu Lane, don’t miss out the amazing Hariya ki Lassi, which is not only creamy and delicious but also so filling.
