Munsiyari can be found at the entry point to the Johar Valley, some 2298 meters above sea-level. It is a gorgeous valley that is quickly turning into one of the most popular tourist spots in Uttarakhand. It is nearly 135 km away from Pithoragarh and is eqully appreciated by trekkers and nature ethusiasts alike. The valley town is well-connected by road, rail and air. Pantnagar Airport is the closest domestic airport to Munsiyari, some 250 km away. The airport enjoys a decently high frequency of flights to and from most of the significant cities in and around Uttarakhand. There are approximately 4 round flights to Delhi from here. There are multiple car and bus options from the airport, for visitors to choose from. The nearest international airport is in Delhi, 600 km away. 

This is one of the longest but best ways to reach Munsiyari. The well-connected roadway network allows visitors travel back and forth from most of the prominent cities in Uttarakhand. The drive down from Delhi is extremely scenic and enjoyable. However, due to the length of the journey it is recommended to avoid driving non-stop and instead take breaks during the drive periodically. There are also both government and private bus and taxi services for visitors to choose from. 

Kathgodam and Tanakpur are two of the closest railway stations to Munisyari, respectively 275 and 286 km away. Both stations enjoy a high frequency of trains to and from most of the significant cities in the area. The railway network is efficient and well-connected, making it easy for visitors to reach Munsiyari. Similar to the airports, there are a wide variety of transportation options for visitors to choose from. 

Munisyari can be explored locally either on foot or via a number of different taxis available in and around the area. Alternatively, visitors can hire a private jeep or car to get around. It is recommended to drive around Munsiyari during the monsoon season due to the dangers of flooding and landslides.
