A highly revered religious town in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand, Joshimath is situated a whopping 1875 meters aboe sea-level. It tends to act as a base for visitors trekking to the Valley Of Flowers. The town has many religious sites and temples scattered all over that are frequented by pilgirms throughout the year. Joshimath is equally reachable via air, rail or road. However, the recommended and best way to reach Joshimath is via the excellent roadway network. The drive is additionally rewarding with scenic views of the valley all around. There are multiple cars and busses to help visitors get around this quaint town. 

Jolly Grant Airport is the closest domestic airport, situated some 272 km away. It enjoys a high flight frequency to Delhi and other significant cities in and around Uttarakhand. Visitors also have a wide variety of car and bus options to take them back and forth from the airport to Joshimath. The closest international airport can be found in Delhi. This is a highly efficient way to reach your destination. 

The nearest railway station is Rishikesh Station, 250 km away on NH 58. Rishikesh enjoys high train frequency via a well-connected railway network to majority of the significant cities in and around the area. Joshimath and Rishikesh are also easily reachable via roadways. There are state and private owned transportation services available from Rishikesh. 

This is the best and most rewarding way to reach Joshimath. Busses and Taxis are available to Joshimath from practically all the major cities and town in Uttarakhand. The drive is quite long but is extremely scenic, along the Ganga River and its tributaries. For visitors travelling from Delhi, it is recommended to travel to Rishikesh first, which is 254 km from Joshimath. The well-connected roadway network is the recommended way to reach Joshimath.  

It is recommended to travel locally in Joshimath on foot. The town is small and all local treks and outdoor activities are best done by walking. However, hotels can arrange for cars to locally take their guests around to explore the area.
