Ukraine Weather And Best Time To Visit Ukraine
Ukraine is a country in Eastern Central Europe and is blessed with a continental type of climate. The country has diverse flora and fauna with a graded landscape that includes beaches as well as hills, steppes as well as lakes and rivers. If you are planning a visit to Ukraine then you will have to ensure that you do so when the weather is good. To help you with that, here’s a guide on the best time to visit Ukraine.
Spring (March to May)
The melting of winter snow marks the onset of spring in Ukraine, which generally is symbolised by swelling streams and flooding rivers. Flash floods are common in March-April but May is one of the best months to visit Ukraine for a spring holiday. The night frost is all but gone, winds are not howling anymore, and the average temperatures are at around 15-21°C.
Summer (June to August)
Summer in Ukraine is hot. With the maximum temperature reaching upto 30°C, summers are the best time to visit the country. The beaches warm up and the seas are perfect with their sub-tropical winds, while the number of sunny bright days go up. Since Ukraine is also an agrarian state, summer marks the time of harvest and many local celebrations. Most resort towns, tourist attractions and beaches are booked from May to mid-September.
Autumn (September to November)
The autumn season is Ukraine is warm and rain-filled, but sometime at the end of September, the country sees a heatwave that makes everything feel like an ‘Indian summer.’ The temperature remains on an average of 10°C by October end, and keeps going down as time passes. Birds migrate to the south and everyone kicks back to prepare for winter. So autumn may not be the best time to visit, unless you are okay with sudden temperature changes and wet days.
Winter (December to February)
Like in Russia, winter in Ukraine is very cold, bitter and harsh, and definitely not for the weak-hearted. The temperature may drop to below -30°C on some days and it may rain or snow on others. December and January may be the coldest months. If you are not a fan of winters and snow then this is not a good time to visit Ukraine, as all outdoor activities cease to operate. The only saving grace is skiing and mountain resorts that open up for Christmas and New Years.
