Apart from Kolkata, till recently Siliguri was the only city to boast of an airport of its own. The Bagdogra Airport is located about 15 minutes from Siliguri. From the airport tourists can take taxis to reach their desired destination. The Bagdogra Airport has flights coming from Kolkata, Delhi and Bangalore and those from other cities can take a connecting flight to Siliguri. This airport is used for traveling to any part of North Bengal and hence enjoys an esteemed status.

Siliguri has access to two railway stations. One is Siliguri Junction which is not as popular as New Jalpaiguri Junction or NJP. It is more favored because it has more number of trains coming in and is well connected with some of the major stations. There are taxis available in front of the stations which help to transfer tourists to their destinations in and around Siliguri.

Siliguri enjoys good connectivity with neighboring cities and towns and with the capital city of Kolkata. There is a well-developed network of roads and has regular bus services operating between cities. Public and private carriers that have buses running between Siliguri and places like Darjeeling, Dooars, Kolkata, Kalimpong etc. Taxis also travel long distances.

Local buses are the popular modes of transportation in Siliguri and arrive at frequent intervals. It is also the most economical means of commute within the city. For short distances rickshaws, battery operated rickshaws and autos are available and they are quite handy. If tourists however wish to explore the city, visit different places both in and around Siliguri then rental cars are recommended. They charge about INR 250 per hour.
