How To Reach Aveiro

Planning A Trip To Aveiro? Here are some guidelines on how to reach Aveiro

Aveiro is a charming little city located in the Northern half of Portugal, famed for its intricate canals and colourful architecture. The city continues to grow in stature as a popular tourist destination as well. It is equally easy to reach via road, rail and air. For international visitors, the closest airport to reach is Francisco Sa Carneiro Airport in Porto. From the airport there are equally efficient travel options in the form of taxi and bus services to drive down to Aveiro. A slightly quicker and more expensive option is to take the railway service down to the newly constructed Aveiro Station. It is arguably the best way to reach the city. The city is small in size and can be scaled locally via bike or on foot. To learn more on the best ways to reach, check out the article below.

The airport has a high flight frequency and is well-connected to majority of the other significant cities in Portugal and the rest of Europe. There are multiple car and bus options from the airport to get Aveiro, making it a popular option for most visitors.

The journey via road is about an hour long from Porto to Aveiro, with the 2 cities being separated by about 40 miles approximately. Aveiro is well-connected by its network of highways to most of Portugal and most of the other significant cities in and around the country. Visitors travelling from Porto can use either the A1 or A29 highways. Alternatively, travellers from Lisbon can take the A8 and A7 roads to get to their destination. This is one of the best ways to reach for local visitors. The journey via bus takes over 2 hours at times, which is slightly longer than the journey via train.

By Rail

For another easy and efficient alternative to the highways, travel via rail to Aveiro Station is the best option for visitors looking to get to the city locally. The station is relatively new and is extremely well-connected via railway networks to the rest of the country. The train frequency is high and from Porto it takes about 90 minutes to get to Aveiro. Railway provides a more comfortable and quicker travel option sometimes as compared to travel via bus.
