North Sikkim Tour - 12 Oct -18 Oct 2019 - Tharingsa Holidays review Trip ID: 4862292

We had booked the travel 4 months in advance. The tour co ordinators asked for ID proofs as Aadhar Cards and informed to carry original for touring the well-known Nathula Pass. However on reaching the destination, they suddenly informed that Sikkim government doesn't accept Aadhar card as ID proof and they will now need passport/ election ID. Apart from not getting entry to Nathula Pass, which was a major attraction of going all the way to Sikkim, the tour co ordinators kept troubling us for the entire previous night asking for various ID proofs one after the other.
On the next day, the driver took 5000/- from us for obtaining Nathula license, which he never even tried for and returned only 4000/- leaving no clue of where did he utilise the balance 1000/-. Nathula is yet a dream for us inspite of the 4 months advance booking.

At kalimpong, we had booked Yuru Retreat, offering view of mountain ranges, which was changed to some local hotel without informing us. We came to know about the change in hotel only after reaching Yuru Retreat, which was insulting to our entire family. The other hotel which they had booked was an ok place in the market area as against the peaceful Yuru Retreat booked earlier. The manager at the hotel informed us that he was not paid by the agency and if he doesn't get his payment till our check out, we will be compelled to pay !!! With a lot of phone calls and additional insult at the hotel reception, tharingsa settled the issue.
A family tour is meant for reducing stress. However, Tharingsa promises additional stress.

There was zero co ordination between the tour manager and the driver. Surprisingly, they were having a fight amongst themselves. Apparently, the itinerary shared with us was not shared with the driver at all.
For the entire tour, our tour manager did not turn up and we were entirely at the disposal of the driver and his moods.

HAD A PACKAGE FOR SIKKIM. BUT THARINGSA HAD A SUB AGENT FOR TRANSPORT AND HE ALSO HAD A SUB AGENT BETWEEN THE DRIVER AND HIM. THERE WAS NO COORDINATION BETWEEN ALL OF THEM. THE TRANSPORT MANAGER DIDNT KNOW THE NAME OF THE DRIVER ALSO. THE TAXI CAME ONE AND HAFL HOUR LATE FOR LACHEN TRIP.
HOTEL TRIGYA WAS BOOKED FOR LACHUNG. ON REACHIMG THERE, WE FOUND THAT THERE WAS NO HOTEL CALLED TRIGYA. WE HAD TO WAIT TILL ONE AND HALF HOURIN 5 DEGREE FREESING TEMPRATURE.
WE DIDNT GET PERMIT FOR NATHULA DUE TO LACK OF COORDINATION BETWEEN THEM.
WE WERE TOLD TO BOOK TOYTRAIN IN DARGEELING ON REAXHING THERE.ON REACHING, WE TOLD TO BOOK THE SAME. WE WERE TOLD THAT THE TRAIN IS FULL BUT THEY WILL MANAGE. WE HAD TO PAY 600RS. EXTRA PER SEAT. WHILE ON REACHING THERE FOUND THAT STILL THE TICKETS WERE AVAILABLE. WE DEMAANDED COMPONSETION FOR ALL THIS HARRESMENT BUT THEY REFUSE. HOWEVER WE PAID IN FULL AS PER THE DEAL..

Tharingsa Holidays provided me and my family a week long trip to Bhutan with the best hotels, great assistance and upto the mark services. The deal was made very reasonable and we had an amazing holiday. A sense of personal touch was provided by taking care of the comforts of each and every member of my family, which was beyond our expectations. I would definitely give a big thumbs up to the entire team who gave us such wonderful experience. I shall always go with Tharingsa for my future trips.

With a group of 6 and the tour being planned only for 2 days and 2 nights, we had no clue regarding the connectivity and possible no. of explorations within the given time frame as we were first time travelers to Sikkim.

Credit goes to Tharingsa Team especially Tour Co-coordinator Ms. Sushmita, who patiently listened, understood and accordingly planned the itinerary to our expectations.
Receiving from Bagdogra airport, river rafting in Kalimpong, sightseeing in Tsango Lake, Baba Mandir, Nathula on the next day till dropping back on Airport was so well co-ordinated and executed that we didn't give a second thought for a single moment. Honestly this was one of the reason that our group could enjoy to the maximum in the short duration.
Ofcourse we booked the arrangements for our stay by ourselves which was simply awesome.


Would like to suggest to the first time travelers or even to frequent travel freaks, if you want to enjoy to the fullest and keep aside headaches for travelling arrangements. Go for Tharingsha Holidays!

I did my Sikkim trip on the 21 st of feb , 5 nights 6 day package it was . When I first spoke to the travel agency I specifically said I want to do baba mandir , tsongo lake and yumthang valley . These were included in my itenary . Once we reached Sikkim , we were picked up and we reached Gangtok . All hotels arranged were good . But they did not provide room. Heaters and we had to pay extra 300 to 500 per night for room heaters . This is a basic amenity they should provide to people who travel there as we are not used to the cold climate . First day was supposed to be tsongo lake and baba mandir and our agent said we did not get permit . But later we found out from others that these two places have been closed for the past 15 to 20 days till the day we arrived as well . So the travel agency should have atleast informed us prior so that we could have rescheduled our entire trip . We were free by 12 noon on the first day as these two main points coul not be covered . We asked the agent to arrange for local sight seeing in Gangtok . But he said we have to do it on our own expenses . We ended up paying 1000 to the driver just for half day tour to places which we ourselves googled and found out as we were Keen on not wasting the entire day . Next day we headed towards lachung . Whole day went in travelling . The next day we were supposed to visit yumthang valley as per our itenary . After reaching lachung the driver informed us , we cannot go to yumthang valley as it’s been closed past 15 -20 days . Again we were extreme disappointed as we travelled almost 8 hours to reach lachung . And all we could see was till the foot of katao mountains . We spent an hour there and we headed back to Gangtok . So there again three important points yumthang valley , baba mandir and tsongo we missed . My point is that , the travel agency is from Sikkim and if these places were closed past 15 to 20 days , they could have informed us . Neither did they arrange an alternative for the free time we had . Neither did they take up the expense . We googles we paid the driver extra !! Next day we headed towards darjleeng and the we had half day to cover few places including a zoo . It was a rush . The places which were supposed to be covered next day after the Kanchenjunga view at tiger hills we were asked to cover the previous day . So we basically missed the beautiful Kanchenjunga view from batasia loop. When we asked the driver to stop by he wasn’t willing to . Over all we were extremely disappointed . My entire plan to Sikkim was to see tsongo lake baba mandir and yumthang . I could cover nothing basically . Hotels arranged were good . Ida dechen in Gangtok , services was very good . Every day we had different drivers so it was confusing plus I had to keep calling up the agent to ask who will be coming and at what time . One thing which confited us was that , the people in Sikkim darjleeng were very helpful and warm . I travelled to Sikkim from kashmir and I had booked my kashmir package through another travel agency as well . That was excellent. From pick up to drop to a personal driver to sight seeing everything was perfectly arranged . The agent in kashmir called us up in the morning to inform our days activities and again at night to ask us how our day went and if we faced any issues . So comparing that , we were not very happy with the Sikkim travel package . Could have been much better !
