Situated at a distance of 3 km from Bhilai is a sleepy little village by the name of Deobaloda. The village is most famous for an ancient Shiva Temple built in red sandstone, which is said to be one of the oldest Shiva temples in Chhattisgarh. The temple is a little dilapidated but over the years, devotees and people taking care of the temple have tried to renovate it and maintain its look. It is said that there is a Shiva Ling that had emerged several years ago at the spot where the temple is built. The mandap inside the temple has five pillars and it also has a kund. The zoo stretches over 111 acres of land that includes the park as well and is the biggest zoo in the region. If you trace back history, the Maitri Bagh was established as a peace treaty between Russia and India; it was known as the Friendship Garden and was a symbol of friendship between USSR and India. This place of worship is a Jain Temple situated in Nagpura which is a few kilometers away from Bhilai. It is one of the most beautiful and well constructed structures in Bhilai and is visited by many pilgrims throughout the year. There is a story attached to this temple; it is said that a fisherman in the nearby water body found an idol while retrieving his net from the water, but at this point he did not take the idol. One fine day another villager dreamt of this deity in the water and immediately asked the fisherman to retrieve the idol and told him to place it in a hut, which was later on built into the Ganga Maiya Temple. The temple organizes several religious activities for the villagers inside the temple premises.
