Itinerary
As you arrive at the Bandaranaike International Airport our representative will be waiting to greet you and escort you to Bentota, where you can spend your first night close to the Indian Ocean full of blue whales, sperm whales and sea turtles.
Optional whale watching tour in the morning (Whale watching season is from November to April). and later proceed to Deniyaya, where the Sinharaja rain forest is located. Sinharaja is rich in bird life with an impressive 147 species recorded to date. overnight stay can be arranged in a tented lodge.
Sinharaja is home to 21 of the 45 reptile species, 10 of the 19 aquatic animal genera, 25 of the 96 bird-flock genera, and 8 of the 12 mammalian species that are peculiar to Sri Lanka.
Take a Guided tour inside the Sinaharaja rain forest with a experienced naturalist and proceed to Yala national park, Guided jeep safari inside the yala national park in the afternoon with an professional safari Ranger who has years of experience tracking leopards inside the park. Overnight stay can be arranged in a glamping site.
Yala National Park is the most famous and most visited national park in Sri Lanka With around 1000 leopards and a density of one per square mile, it holds the highest leopard density in the world. The main reason why people from all over the world come to this park is to see “Panthera Pardus,” commonly known as “Kotiya” by the locals.
And also Yala National Park is home to elephants, jackals, sloth bears, sambas, spotted deer, crocodiles, and over 200 bird species including seven bird species endemic to Sri Lanka.
After the breakfast proceed to Kumana Bird sanctuary. In Kumana, you will be able to watch large flocks of migrating wading birds and waterfowls. We have experienced staff waiting for you, if you wish to set up a camp site and spend the night inside the Kumana national park or simply stay in a comfy hotel room in Nuwara Eliya.
Kumana National Park is one of the country’s largest protected breeding grounds, home to some 255 species of birds. including large flocks of migratory waterfowls and other species of wading birds. The surroundings are also popular for pelicans, painted stalks, spoonbills, white ibis, heron, and little cormorants.
Visit Horton plains National Park early in the morning where you can experience the bio diversity in central highlands of Sri Lanka while witnessing the picturesque scenery of the landscape trekking 5 km trail inside the park.
Horton Plains National Park, in Sri Lanka’s central highlands, is a protected area with montane grassland and cloud forest. At an altitude of 2,100–2,300 meters (6,900–7,500 feet), this plateau is rich in biodiversity, with various endemic species. In 1988, Sri Lanka declared this area a national park. World’s End and Bakers Falls are the main attractions in Horton Plains, which is a popular tourist destination.
After the breakfast continue our journey to Minneriya national park where we will go for a Jeep safari with a professional Ranger to witness one of Asia’s most spectacular animal experience where you can see up to 300 elephants in a one place. Optional visit to Sigiriya can be arranged.
Minneriya National Park is most famous for its majestic elephant migration, which is considered as one of Asia’s most spectacular animal experience. During the dry months of June to September, up to 300 elephants cluster in the Minneriya National Park around the old Minneriya water tank (which goes back to the 3rd Century AD), taking advantage of the receding waters that provide an essential water source.
Continue our journey to Wilpattu national park where you will be exploring bird life including endemic as well as migratory birds like Ceylon Jungle Fowl, Black capped Bulbul, and Ceylon Wood shrike and many more.
The presence of the Villu is a major attraction for bird life at the park for endemic as well as migratory birds. Endemics include the Ceylon Jungle Fowl, Black capped Bulbul, and Ceylon Woodshrike.
