Itinerary
Start early to beat the traffic out of Chandigarh and head towards the Himalayas on the Himalayan Expressway. On the way, you will be passing through Chail, a hill station in the lower Himalayan range and home to beautiful flower orchards.
After a short lunch break, you will head towards Narkanda, known as the fruit bowl of Himachal Pradesh.
Apple and cherry trees line the roadsides and the tall Deodhar fir trees spread their sweet aroma all around. End the day after reaching the hotel in Narkanda.
Wake up early in the morning to experience one of the most beautiful sunrises. After a delicious breakfast, you will leave for one of the most beautiful views of Kinnaur Valley.
Travel along the Sutlej river till Karcham from where you will take a right turn towards Chitkul following the Baspa river. Chitkul is the last inhabited village before the Indo-China border and here you can also visit the famous ‘Hindustan ka Akhri Dhaba’ for an amazing meal.
Overnight stay and dinner at hotel/homestay in Chitkul.
After having a hearty breakfast, you will leave for Nako. Drive through the Indo - Tibetan highway along with the small picturesque hamlets like Reckong Peo, which is the main town of the Kinnaur district.
Pass through Khab Bridge that marks the confluence of Spiti and the Satluj River. You will then proceed to Nako which is the last village of Kinnaur Valley.
Upon reaching Nako, Visit the Nako Gompa situated at the banks of the serene Nako Lake which was established in the 11th century.
Overnight stay at a hotel/ homestay in Nako.
Wake up in the morning and have a healthy breakfast. Hit the roads and just as you cross Sumdo you will be entering the Spiti Valley. Just 3 Km after Sumdo, take a detour on the right through the gate to visit the 500-Year-Old Mummy in the Gue Village.
Stop by the "Ajanta of the Himalayas' - Tabo Monastery, which is the oldest continuously operating Buddhist enclave in both India and the Himalayas.
Later, start a scenic drive towards the secluded land of Pin Valley - which houses the exotic and endangered Himalayan species including the Snow leopard and Siberian ibex, Tibetan Gazelle, etc.
You will then proceed towards Kaza where you will be spending the night at a hotel.
Post early morning breakfast, go out to explore the spectacular beauty of Kaza. Visit the Key Gompa Monastery nestled in a bowl-shaped valley of the small village Langza in Spiti valley.
You will then go farther up the valley to the picturesque village of Kibber that will lead your way to the Chicham Bridge, the highest bridge in Asia. Langza is considered to be one of the highest villages in the world with a motorable road and the nearby Komic Village is the highest village.
Hikkim is close to Kaza which is one of the highest year-round inhabited locations in India.
Return back to your hotel in Kaza for an overnight stay.
Wake up to a beautiful morning in the mountains. Have a lip-smacking breakfast before you start your journey towards Jispa via Chandratal.
To reach this pristine lake, at an altitude of 4270 m, you have to trek through the most difficult roads and glaciers, but the views are worth every effort. So, it lies on top of the bucket lists of expert trekkers.
Transfer to Manali. Dinner and overnight stay at the Manali hotel.
Post breakfast at the hotel, VIsit Hadimba Devi Temple, Tibetan Monestry, Club House & mall road.
Later you will head towards Chandigarh. Travel through the slithering roads following the Satluj and passing the rich Deodhar forests.
Once you reach Chandigarh, this will mark the end of your amazing tour to Spiti Valley.
