Chhattisgarh is a huge state and one can easily get here by taking a flight from their city. There are three cities that have airports and you can take either of them to reach this state. The first one is Swami Vivekananda International Airport in Raipur and it is located at a distance of 15.5 km from the main city of Raipur in Chhattisgarh, which takes about 33 minutes to reach. The second airport is the Bilaspur Airport located at a distance of 12.5 km from the center of Bilaspur city and takes 30 minutes to reach. The third airport in the state is the Raigarh Airport distanced at 10.2 km from the main center of Raigarh city, which takes about 21 minutes to reach.

 

All the flight carriers operating from these airports in the state transport passengers from all around the country with Swami Vivekananda International Airport in Raipur transporting international passengers as well. Once you get off at either of the airports, it is easy to find public transportation that will take you to your destination in that particular city in Chattisgarh.

Since Chhattisgarh is highly industrialized and is the main supplier of steel in the country, it goes without saying that this state is well linked by road, for the ease supply. Having said all this, the state of Chhattisgarh has excellent networks of roads that are well maintained and easy to drive on. There are 11 national highways that pass through this state, inside different cities and constitute approximately 2184 km of road that connects the state to all major cities. Government buses are run by Chhattisgarh State Road Transport Corporation (CSRTC) and these busses will take you all around the state. Hence, whichever side you are coming from, once you are inside Chhattisgarh, you can rely on these buses to get to your destination. You can even opt to take luxury buses from adjacent states to get to Chattisgarh easily. This is the cheapest mode of transport and a convenient one too.

Chhattisgarh is well connected by rail with the network of rail lines being centered on the city of Bilaspur. The city of Bilaspur is the zonal headquarters of South East Central Railway of Indian Railways and hence most of the major trains pass from stations in Bilaspur. The Bilaspur Junction railway station is the main railhead in the city and is distanced at 4.8 km from the center of the city. There is also the Raipur Junction Railway Station located at a distance of 1.4 km from Raipur city. Thirdly, you can also go to Raigarh Railway Station located in Raigarh District.

 

These are the main railheads in Chhattisgarh, but alternatively you can reach other railway stations in different cities depending on where you want to go; there are railheads in Durg, Korba, Surguja, Bastaar and many other cities in the state. After you get off at either of the railway stations, you can always take public transportation to reach your destination in the desired city.

Chhattisgarh is a key industrial state and it is important that their public transportation system is at par to the standards of the state. Popular means of transport in the state include auto rickshaws and taxis that have their own stand in different cities and any passenger can go up to them and pay the fare to get to their destination; whether it is for sightseeing or work. If you are hiring a cab, they usually go by a fixed rate with which they will take you to a particular spot; sometimes this may turn out to be expensive.
